Abstract This paper investigates the selective nature of second language (L2)-induced first language (L1) attrition in binding properties of overt and null pronouns in Turkish. Data are collected from native Turkish speakers who have been living in an L2 English environment for an extended period of time. The results reveal significant divergence from L1 norms in certain aspects of pronominal binding. Findings are discussed within the Activation Threshold Hypothesis.
