A bstractWe develop models of 1+1 dimensional dilaton gravity describing flows to AdS2 from higher dimensional AdS and other spaces. We use these to study the effects of backreaction on holographic correlators. We show that this scales as a relevant effect at low energies, for compact transverse spaces. We also discuss effects of matter loops, as in the CGHS model.

- Entanglement wedge reconstruction and the information paradox (2019, background): “Although the precise dual gravity description, if one exists, remain unknown, both the SYK model and simple nearly-AdS2 gravity theories such as Jackiw-Teitelboim gravity [73, 94–97] have an emergent reparameterisation symmetry that is both spontaneously and explicitly broken, with the explicit symm”
- An introduction to the SYK model (2018, background): “ This is a result of being nearly conformally invariant. On the AdS2 side, since Einstein gravity is topological in two-dimensions, it is natural to instead consider Jackiw-Teitelboim dilaton gravity [54,55]. Dilaton gravity theories naturally arise from compactifying gravity in higher dimensions do”
