S o m e of t h e m aj o r a p pli c a ti o n a r e a s f o r o r g a ni c a n d p ol y m e ric transistors are reviewed. Organic complementary devices are promising on account of their lower power dissipation and ease of circuit design. The first organic large-scale integrated circuits have been implemented with this circuit approach. Organic transistor backplanes are ideally suited for electronic paper applications and other display schemes. Lowcost and other processing advantages, as well as improving performance, have led to organic-based radio frequency identification tag development. The chemical interaction between various organic and polymer semiconductors can be exploited in chemical and biological sensors based upon organic transistors.
