Abstract High-nuclearity lanthanide clusters have attracted much attention in different fields because of their unique physical and chemical properties and their potential applications. In this review, the synthetic strategy and building blocks for the assembly of high-nuclearity lanthanide clusters are outlined based on recently reported high-nuclearity lanthanide clusters. Perspectives for future studies on high-nuclearity lanthanide clusters are also discussed. We hope this review will provide insight into future research on high-nuclearity lanthanide clusters.
