This paper is the third review – including short updates the fifth paper – intended to summarise Eurasian beaver Castor fiber distribution change and population development (Nolet & Rosell 1998, Halley & Rosell 2002, 2003, Halley et al. 2012; a population estimate for Europe was also recently presented in a short communication, Wrobel 2020). The status of the North American beaver Castor canadensis in Eurasia is also reviewed. Information available is copious, but very widely scattered.
