Due to the concern regarding the spread of novel coronavirus (COVID-19), the 37th Meeting on Ferroelectric Materials and Their Applications (FMA-37) which was planned to be held in Kyoto from May 27 through 30, 2020, was cancelled. However, the scheduled 67 presentations in the program were approved. This special issue contains a selection of papers presented at the FMA37. Thirty-two papers were selected for publication in this special issue of the Japanese Journal of Applied Physics. The selection was made by referees according to the publication standards of the Japanese Journal of Applied Physics.
