Technical Report 3, prepared jointly by the Secretariats of the Convention on Wetlands and the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD), together with the Scientific and Technical Review Panel (STRP), provides guidance on valuing the benefits derived from wetland ecosystem services. The report sets out a practical five-step framework for the integrated assessment and valuation of wetland services, covering policy analysis, stakeholder involvement, function analysis, valuation of services, and communication of results. It is intended to support better-informed planning and decision-making by helping users recognise the ecological, socio-cultural and economic values of wetlands and their relevance for conservation, wise use and management.
