Abstract We give a short proof of Miki's identity for Bernoulli numbers, ∑ i = 2 n - 2 β i β n - i - ∑ i = 2 n - 2 n i β i β n - i = 2 H n β n for n ⩾ 4 where, β i = B i / i , B i is the i th Bernoulli number, and H n = 1 + 1 / 2 + ⋯ + 1 / n .
