abundant and re‐ lieving and environmental photocatalysis Semiconductor‐based photocatalysts crucial to its successful application. the photocatalytic effi‐ ciency based on a unitary semiconductor material falls short of expectations, because of the rapid recombination of photogenerated electrons and holes. This originates in the ex‐ tremely strong Columbic force between them. Moreover, it is impossible for a single photocatalyst to achieve wide light ab‐ sorption and ample redox ability concurrently. The conceptual innovation, origin, progress, state‐of‐the‐art developments, importance and challenges of S‐scheme heterojunctions are briefly dis‐ cussed in this highlight. It is expected to achieve the precise design and extensive applications of new S‐scheme heterojunction photocatalysts.
