Department of Physics, National University of Singapore, Singapore 117542, Republic of Singapore(Dated: 1 May 2006)We present a formulation of a nonequilibrium Green’s function method for thermal current innanojunction atomic systems with nonlinear interactions. This first-principle approach is appliedto the calculation of the thermal conductance in carbon nanotube junctions. It is shown that non-linearity already becomes important at low temperatures. Nonlinear interactions greatly suppressphonon transmission at room temperature. The peak of thermal conductance is found to be around400K, in good agreement with experiments. High-order phonon scattering processes are importantfor diffusive heat transport.
