Abstract We use the theory of vertex operator algebras and intertwining operators to obtain systems of q -difference equations satisfied by the graded dimensions of the principal subspaces of certain level k standard modules for s l ( 3 ) . As a consequence we establish new formulas for the graded dimensions of the principal subspaces corresponding to the highest weights i Λ 1 + ( k − i ) Λ 2 , where 1 ≤ i ≤ k and Λ 1 and Λ 2 are fundamental weights of s l ( 3 ) .

- Lattice vertex algebras and combinatorial bases: general case and W-algebras (2012, background): “But the “full” principal subspace introduced in the pioneering work [18] and investigated further in [4], [5], [8], [9], [12], [23] is generically noncommutative so results from Part I [29] cannot be easily modified.”
