Abstract We consider the total production cross section of heavy coloured particle pairs in hadronic collisions at the production threshold. We construct a basis in colour space that diagonalizes to all orders in perturbation theory the soft function, which appears in a new factorization formula for the combined resummation of soft gluon and Coulomb gluon effects. This extends recent results on the structure of soft anomalous dimensions and allows us to determine an analytic expression for the two-loop soft anomalous dimension at threshold for all production processes of interest.

- NLO QCD corrections to off-shell top-antitop production with leptonic decays at hadron colliders (2012, methodology): “Later also electroweak radiative corrections were calculated [5–10], and recently important progress has been achieved both in the resummation of logarithmically enhanced terms [11–14] and towards the inclusion of QCD corrections at next-to-next-to-leading-order (NNLO) [15–25].”
- Constraints on the gluon PDF from top quark pair production at hadron colliders (2013, background): “Thanks to a much improved control over higher order terms, including soft gluon emissions through next-to-next-to leading log (NNLL) [5–7], scale uncertainties are now controlled down to the 2.”
- Supersymmetric top and bottom squark production at hadron colliders (2010, unknown): “The logarithmic soft-emission terms are proportional to the colour charge of the final state [26, 29, 31, 39] and are therefore absent for the singlet colour state and proportional to CA for the octet colour state.”
