- The properties of warm dark matter haloes (2013, background): “For the past thirty years or so attention has focused on cold dark matter (CDM) (see Frenk & White 2012, for a review), for which there are well-motivated candidates from particle physics, for example, the lightest supersymmetric particle or neutralino (Ellis et al. 1984), or the axion (Preskill et…”
- Using the Milky Way satellites to study interactions between cold dark matter and radiation (2014, background): “…dark matter (DM) halo profiles for dwarf galaxies are less cuspy than predicted by CDM (Dubinski & Carlberg 1991, although this is still under debate, see Frenk & White 2012) and large CDM haloes do not form as many stars as expected (the ‘too big to fail problem’; Boylan-Kolchin et al. 2011).”
- EMERGE – an empirical model for the formation of galaxies since z ∼ 10 (2017, background): “…only depends on gravity and the initial conditions have been measured very accurately (Planck Collaboration 2016), these simulations have converged and make accurate and definite predictions for the properties of dark matter haloes at all cosmic epochs (Frenk & White 2012; Knebe et al. 2013).”

- The flattening of the concentration–mass relation towards low halo masses and its implications for the annihilation signal boost (2013, result): “…hierarchical model of structure formation agrees very well with observations and represents indeed a big success of the ΛCDM cosmology paradigm (e.g. Frenk & White (2012)).1 The formation of dark matter (DM) halos is a key aspect of the CDM structure formation scenario de- 1 Yet, the full…”
- The mass profile and accretion history of cold dark matter haloes (2013, background): “…confounded early theoretical expectations, which had envisioned a simple power-law behaviour (e.g., Fillmore & Goldreich 1984; Hoffman & Shaham 1985; Quinn et al. 1986; Crone et al. 1994), and has motivated a number of proposals to explain its origin (see, for a recent review, Frenk & White 2012).”
- Characterization of subhalo structural properties and implications for dark matter annihilation signals (2016, background): “In the standard ΛCDM cosmological framework (Ade et al. 2015), structure formation proceeds hierarchically (see, e.g., Frenk & White (2012)), with low-mass halos forming first and then large-mass halos resulting from the merging and accretion of those smaller halos.”
