Baryogenesis via leptogenesis

We discuss how leptogenesis can explain the observed baryon asymmetry and summarize attempts of testing leptogenesis. We first perform estimates and discuss the main physics, and later outline the techniques that allow to perform precise computations.

- Baryogenesis from the weak scale to the grand unification scale (2020, background): “Several extensions of the standard model with hierarchical heavyneutrino masses were found that could explain the observed value of the baryon asymmetry (Langacker, Peccei, and Yanagida, 1986; Luty, 1992; Gherghetta and Jungman, 1993).”
- Leptogenesis in the Universe (2012, background): “In that case, in spite of the large amount of new reactions, the differences between SM and MSSM leptogenesis can be resumed by means of simple counting of a few numerical factors [148, 130, 109], like for example the number of relativistic degrees of freedom in the thermal bath, the number of loop ”
- PandaX-III: Searching for neutrinoless double beta decay with high pressure 136Xe gas time projection chambers (2016, background): “Understanding this puzzle requires, among others, lepton/baryon number-violating processes which have yet to be established [10].”
- Thermal production of ultrarelativistic right-handed neutrinos: complete leading-order results (2012, background): “[18, 19, 20, 21]), explicit results for the corresponding rate were shown in [19, 21].”
